Students who use marijuana may be more likely to engage in risky behaviors, such as driving under the influence or engaging in unprotected sex. This can lead to a range of negative outcomes, including accidents, injuries, and unwanted pregnancies. On the other hand, marijuana use can lead to isolation, withdrawal, and decreased motivation, which can make it difficult to maintain friendships and participate in social activities. Despite these concerns, some students and advocates argue that legalized marijuana use can have positive effects on college campuses. For example, some students may claim marijuana helps them manage stress or anxiety.
