Every September, communities across the U.S. unite to celebrate National Recovery Month, recognizing the strength of individuals in recovery and the providers who support them. This month is also a call to action: to reduce stigma, educate the public, and expand access to prevention and treatment services that save lives.
Our online interventions are designed to support people on their journey—whether they’re navigating the justice system, facing challenges on campus, or taking personal steps toward healing.
For Courts and Community Agencies
Every day, community supervision professionals are working with individuals at a turning point in life. Many of them are facing substance use, trauma, and instability. National Recovery Month is a reminder that healing, not punishment, must be at the center of justice reform.
65% of the U.S. prison population has a substance use disorder. (NIDA, 2020)
At 3rd Mil, our courses are designed to meet these individuals with accountability, structure, and support. We partner with hundreds of courts across the U.S. to provide accessible, self-paced online courses proven to reduce recidivism and encourage long-term behavioral change.
For Higher Education
College is a time of transition—and often, that includes exposure to substances. National Recovery Month is a chance for institutions to support students who are struggling, reduce stigma, and educate proactively.
Nearly 1 in 5 college students report past-year illicit drug use.
40% report binge drinking. (SAMHSA, 2022)
Over 60% report overwhelming anxiety. (ACHA, 2023)
We help colleges intervene early and compassionately. Whether a student is on conduct probation, recovering from overdose, or simply needs support, our online courses offer a judgment-free way to learn, reflect, and grow. Read about commonly abused substances in young adults here.
For Secondary Schools
Substance use doesn’t wait until college. In fact, many patterns that lead to long-term challenges begin during the high school years. National Recovery Month is a crucial opportunity for schools to intervene early—before students face legal consequences or long-term health impacts.
1 in 10 middle and high school students report current alcohol use, and 1 in 6 report marijuana use. (CDC Youth Risk Behavior Survey, 2023)
Students today are navigating unprecedented levels of stress, anxiety, and peer pressure. Early intervention can help them make informed decisions, manage emotional triggers, and access support without stigma or shame.
At 3rd Mil, we’re committed to building prevention and intervention education that heals, systems that uplift, and partnerships that center people.
