NO MORE’s seventh annual NO MORE Week is March 8-14, 2020. The goal of NO MORE is to bring awareness about sexual violence and to end domestic violence and sexual assault.

This year’s campaign is called #ChangeHappensHere. What can you do to participate?

#1 Get a discussion started

Open a candid conversation with your friends about domestic violence and sexual assault. What are their thoughts about it? Is it an issue? Is it something that they or someone they know has experienced?

Check out these stats from NO MORE

  • 1 in 4 women and 1 in 9 men experience violence from their partners in their lifetimes.
  • 1 in 3 teens experience sexual or physical abuse or threats from a boyfriend or girlfriend in one year.
  • 1 in 5 women are survivors of rape.
  • 1 in 3 women and 1 in 6 men have experienced sexual violence in their lives.
  • 1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men were sexually abused before the age of 18.

There is a good chance that someone in your group will have experienced violence personally or know someone who has. This could be a chance to bring healing to someone who has never talked about it or bring more awareness to a difficult topic.

#2 Learn how to offer support

NO MORE has some great resources and ideas on their website. They also have some tips for what you can say to someone who has experienced sexual violence. We’d also like to give you this free download called “Tips for Talking to Survivors of Sexual Assault” – just fill out the form below.

#3 Stand with survivors

Speak up about your position on domestic violence and sexual assault by sharing on social media.

We’ll be speaking up all this week, too, by posting pics of our team with the NO MORE sign (download yours here). We’d love to see your pics, too. When you share, use the hashtags #ChangeHappensHere #NOMORE and #3rdMil so that we can follow!
